Festival History
The first Lomond Folk Festival was held on 11th-13th August 2000 at Balloch on the shores of Loch Lomond. The festival was the result of 18 months of planning, research and fundraising by the original committee. The main sponsors of the first event were Allied Distillers, The Scottish Arts Council, Awards for All and the West Dunbartonshire Arts Council. There was also considerable support from the Lomond Folk Club, the Traditional Music & Song Association and a number of local businesses. A campsite was set up on Moss o' Balloch park and a large Marquee was erected to house the main events. In addition a long covered trailer was parked adjacent to the campsite as a venue for the open stage. Several local hostelries opened their doors to festival goers for free open music sessions and a great time was had by all!
